December Daily 2014: Title Page and Day 1

I love Christmas. I skipped out on making a December Daily Album last year and I really wish I hadn't. I knew I would make one this year, even if it took me well past December to finish it. That being said, I have officially started it!
In the past I documented everything we did every day for my album. This year I wanted to be more subject based. This format makes it easy for those days we really don't do anything!

I am going to try and keep up this year, but at the same time I don't want to rush it. There are stories I want to document and I want to be sure to take my time and get my thoughts down. I also have a 10 month old I'm keeping up with! This makes EVERYTHING a challenge!

I am using Teresa Collins Candy Cane Lane and Tinsel and Company for the album this year. I love that they can be used alone or mixed together. I am keeping the design very simple this year so that the emphasis is on the photographs and the stories.

Title Page

I used a clear acetate sheet for the title page. I wanted it to stand out but give a glimpse of the next page as well. The wreath is a cut file from the Silhouette store. The alpha stickers are Tinsel and Company.

Day 1

For this page I used photos from our Christmas photo shoot. I wanted to dedicate a page to her 1st Christmas. The trees are actually the triangle banner stickers upside down, the center one is just paper cut larger. The writing is with a gold sharpie and the wood veneer number is from Teresa Collins Something Wonderful collection that's been embossed with gold embossing powder.

The Things I Love

Family photos for us are an extreme rarity. It's next to impossible to get everyone together, dressed, looking in the direction of the camera and having a fairly decent expression on their face, am I right?
Imagine how surprised I was to set up this shot and get a fabulous photograph!

What better way to compliment the picture then with a great scrapbook collection from Teresa Collins. This is her Hello My Name Is collection that can currently be found at Joann's Fabric and Craft Store. She specially designed some exclusive pieces that can only be found at Joann's. What a great collection!

I added some subtle texture to the background using one of her fabulous stencils and some translucent embossing paste. I think it really compliments the layout and adds dimension. And how about those WOOD dots?? How cool are those? I just LOVE them!

I love the journaling snippets. These are an easy way for me to inject my thoughts on a layout when I don't necessarily have an actual story to include. These stickers have all the right sayings. The things I LOVE part is actually a 4x6 vertical card that is included in the 12x12 paper pack. I just cut it down to use that part.

I really love how this layout turned out and can't wait to play some more with this collection. Thanks for stopping by!

For the Love of Boots

Hello! Today I have a layout I created using Teresa Collins Something Wonderful collection. I love love this collection. The colors are fun and vibrant, yet not overwhelming. They worked perfect with this layout of my middle daughter and her boots.

I designed this with a white background to really make the photography and patterns pop. I cut the beginning of my title with my Silhouette Cameo. I welded the words to a rectangular box so that I could finish the title on it with alphabet stickers.

Here is a quick Flipagram tutorial I created to help show how to easily line up alphabet stickers on a layout!

I really love these gold sequin stars. They have a matte finish and really add some fun dimension. I used the TODAY card as paper in this layout, but it is 3"x 4" which makes it perfect for pocket pages as well!

The pale blue green wood grain patterned paper that's behind the photograph is actually from the 6x6 paper pad for this collection. This is a great use for these smaller paper pads. This particular paper is not included in the 12x12 paper collection. What a great addition to this layout that I would have missed out on had I not had the smaller paper pad.

I AM Wonder Woman

The theme of this layout came together after a girlfriend showed me a t-shirt with this saying on it. I fell in love. Don't we all want to feel like a superhero?

I had just happened to snap this selfie on 4th of July (thus the star tattoo). What a perfect shot to create a layout with this saying!

I used my silhouette cameo and cut out the saying and the rest of the layout just fell into place.

The journaling reads: "Motherhood is hard. Some days it's downright ugly. But some days its the most beautiful, glorious thing. Mothers are the toughest of all humans. I was having an exceptionally bad "mommy" day when a friend shared this quote. And then it hit me.
I AM WONDER WOMAN.
I'm the superhero my kids see everyday. I've even saved the day a time or two. Some days I just need to be reminded of my superpowers."

Fly

This past week I put my 11 1/2 year old on a plane to Europe. Even though my parents were accompanying her, it was one of the hardest things I've done as a mother. I had such a range of emotions. I was envious cause I've never been. I was scared something would happen to her. But mostly I was proud. Proud that she didn't let her fears override her sense of adventure. I can't wait to hear about her adventure when she returns.

And since I can't post an entry without a photo, here is a tag I created for no other reason than the need to just create. I think it's fitting.

Under the Sea

I think we skipped Spring and jumped right into Summer! All the forecasts show temperatures in the 90's for the next week. With those kinds of temps it makes me want to be at one place in particular...the beach!!

With that in mind, here's a little beach inspired card to get you in the mood:)

Catching up with Albums Made Easy

I have been just itching to scrapbook since Lily was born, but sleep won out every time! Now that she is getting in a better routine I feel human again and that means scrap time for me!

Since my time is so limited, I need the easiest route possible! I love these new Albums Made Easy cards from Teresa Collins

This first layout is about the day Lily was born. I wanted to keep things as simple as possible to really add impact to the colors and photographs, but I also wanted to personalize it some. I am in love with all the script fonts that are out now so I decided to try my hand at some writing.

Here is a close up of the making of this card. I wrote everything in pencil to start off with. I wanted her middle name in a different font tucked right under her first name but I'm not very good at winging it. I used 2 pieces of washi tape to give me some writing guides. I penciled it in and then went back over it in pen. To get that script font look you widen the parts of each letter that were down strokes.

Be sure to gently erase all pencil marks when you're through.

I loved how her name turned out so much that I did the same thing with the word baby.

I absolutely adore this next layout. I captured some priceless moments of all my girls just waking up on a Saturday morning. I knew I wanted a punchy title and since I'm really loving the script font writing I decided to do it again.

While I was creating my layout my oldest mentioned how she hated her bed head in these pictures. So I decided to use that as the basis for my journaling. I wanted her to know that I see so much more in these pictures. To make the journaling really stand out I chose to use some alphabet stickers for certain words. The journaling can be read either all together or by just reading the words made with the stickers.

These layouts came together so quickly and easily! I really love these pocket pages and cards! My 3rd layout I added an clear overlay that is part of the Albums Made Easy card sets. I love how subtle it is without distracting from the photograph.

Once I placed all the cards and started embellishing them I realized I had very little room for actual journaling. To make room for that I used washi tape and taped 2 cards together. The bottom card slides into the page protector allowing the top card to be flipped up and the journaling to be read without having to remove the card from the pocket. Did I mention how easy these are??

My final layout was a super simple one. I have a lot of catching up to do on last year's Project Life album and these cards were perfect for getting this accomplished. I finished this layout in under 30 min which included printing the photos too. At that speed I see the light at the end of the tunnel for this album.

I used another one of the beautiful overlays that was included. I just love these!

Thanks for stopping by! I am so excited to be scrapbooking again and look forward to sharing many more layouts!

Valentines Card Drive

Just sharing a quick card with you today. Every January my kids and I participate in a Valentines Card Drive to benefit children in the hospital. I am so very blessed to have healthy kids and I love the idea of giving someone else's kid a smile. Our goal this year is to make 100 cards. We are over halfway there, so hopefully we can reach our goal.

I usually design the cards and the kids are my worker bees. They help assemble, do some coloring and then sign the insides. This is something we look forward to every year at this time. Its also a really great way to avoid the normal post holiday blues. We have to keep the design simple, and without any choking hazards on them. This card below is just one of the designs we have made so far.

If you are interested in contributing some cards you can go HERE to read details. All cards have to be received by January 31st.

Best from 2013

I can't believe 2013 is really over! It seems like someone hit the fast forward at places. I keep seeing many other blogs posting their top photos from the year and I thought this would be a fun one to do. Last year was a very dead year for my photography. I think everyone goes through slow times, mine just lasted most of the year. I had lots of other personal projects and for a first time in a long time my photography took a back burner.

That being said when I went back and reviewed my pictures for the year this one particular jumped out at me. This is a photo of my niece playing in the pool. She has such spunk and energy and I love that I was able to capture some of it in this picture!
