Fearless

One of the reasons I love scrapbooking is the photographs. I love looking at a photograph and not only remembering the moment, but also sharing the experience so that my children will grow up knowing that moment too.

This particular photo was taken during my oldest daughters swim lessons. She was 5 at the time and by the end of the class she was able to jump off the diving board into the deep end. I remember sitting poolside watching, anxiously. I remember holding my breath at one point. I remember praying her instructor would move just a little closer so that once she hit the water she could be rescued immediately. I remember watching her not even hesitate when it was her turn. In fact she was one of the only ones who ended up jumping out of her class. And when she was done, I remember thinking how absolutely fearless she was.

iPhone Costume

My youngest had a really tough time deciding what she wanted to dress up as this year. She is 8 years old and pretty much done with the princess phase. Many hours were spent on the internet going thru page after page of ideas. She finally decided to be an iPhone. Now I don't own an iPhone, so the "details" of my finished product may not actually LOOK like an iPhone, but my daughter is THRILLED!

My husband built the frame out of a med. size moving box from home depot. He stapled rope in as the "suspenders" that will go on my daughters shoulders. I then painted the sides black.

Then I bought 2 black foam boards and went to town printing off pictures of apps and cutting the battery and white bars out of my silhouette cameo.

Once those were all cut I arranged them how I wanted them and then used quick dry glue to attach them. While we were at the hardware store, my husband introduced me to this foam board adhesive. it comes in a tube similar to caulk and you use a caulk gun to apply it. This stuff was amazing. I was worried any glues I might try to use while attaching the foam boards to the moving box frame just wouldn't be strong enough. I didn't want it falling apart while my daughter ran all over the neighborhood. That would just be bad.

So here is the finished front. This was the EASIEST and cheapest costume I have ever put together. She can't wait to go trick or treating tonight!

Pumpkin Friends

Since we are into October, today's layout is seasonally themed. Even though its still warm here, I have put out all the Halloween decorations and we have some pumpkins outside too! Pumpkin carving is a BIG deal in our house. The designs are never the same, but we always have so much fun carving them (and then eating the roasted pumpkin seeds afterwards!) Paper Issues Blog is having a link party for Halloween projects. The prize is pretty sweet if you want to join in!

This entire layout was created with Bella Blvd products. The photo idea I got from Rebecca Cooper last year. I was looking for a new way to photograph the pumpkins and this was perfect!

Island Christmas

The year my husband returned from a year long deployment we decided that for Christmas that year we were going to Puerto Rico. We needed to be away from everyone and everything and completely reconnect as a family. It was truly a once in a lifetime vacation. My kids still ask when we are going back.

This layout was made with the May Gossamer Blue Kit.

Flowers

I have always loved hydrangeas. When we moved into this house we had a very large one in the backyard and I was absolutely thrilled. I feel like a little kid every spring watching each leaf grow, then watching the buds for the flowers develop and then finally waiting for the blooms.

Airmail

I was very lucky to capture this shot of my older brother pitching my youngest kid into the air! What a great action shot!!

These are memories my kids will never forget. This layout was also made with a Gossamer Blue Kit. I have had so much fun getting my mojo back!

Angel Eyes

This child of mine has the bluest eyes.

 They are so captivating.

On the outside she is total mischief. But on the inside she has the kindest, most giving heart.

Land of the Free, Because of the Brave

I just love when the mojo flows! I took this picture last fall at my daughter's elementary school. They were celebrating Veteran's Day. Since my husband and I are both Veterans, I was especially moved by this display of flags trailing down the hall. I had the photo printed but didn't quite know what I wanted to do with it until I received my May Gossamer Blue kit. When I saw this red paper, I just knew I wanted to use it for this photo.

The only thing not included in the kit were the wood veneer stars from Studio Calico. I wanted the words FREE and BRAVE to really stand out so not only did I use a different color, I also cut each letter 4 times and glued them together to make my own "chipboard" letters.

Fly Away

I stumbled across this photo I had taken a year or so back and realized I had never scrapbooked it. It's such a favorite of mine. We were pleasantly surprised one morning to walk outside and see this balloon float on by. Since this picture was taken, we have seen many more. I am fascinated by them each time I see them. One of these days I would love to go up in one...until then I will just take pictures and dream.

Surfer Girl

I must confess I love the beach. I know many people would agree with me on this. I am also fortunate enough to get to go at least every year if not every other year. During our beach times I become a maniac with my camera. I love beach pictures, little kids running around with sandy feet, sweet sunrises...ahhhh. Words just can't describe the feeling.

Today's layout includes pictures of my youngest learning to "surf".

ombre challenge

Today I have a card I made with Moxie Fab's Ombre Challenge in mind. It's a fairly simple card in nature but I just love the colors!

When I make cards I like to keep them simple enough to actually mail. I also got to play with a new stamp (the diamonds) with this card.

wishi washi

Today's card is using LOTS of fun washi tape. That has been one of the latest fun crazes. The Moxie Fab website decided to have a challenge on using washi tape. I just happen to have a few...20ish...or more rolls of the stuff so I had to give it a whirl.

Here's my card...

(stamp is from Hero Arts- Studio Calico, days of the week washi tape is from KI memories)

2 chicks, a bunny & a stud

Today's layout came from a sketch challenge on life paper scrapbook. I am reallllllly trying to wake up my mojo. It's been asleep for soooo long. So I figured the best way to shake things up is to look for sketches and other challenges that force me to think outside of the box.

Here is the sketch...

Here is my take on the sketch...

I Spy Spring

I don't know about you, but I love Spring. I love seeing all the mama robin's ready to bust, seeing all my hydrangeas sprouting new growth. Everything feels clean this time of year.

I purchased some new stamps from Unity that I had been drooling over for some time now. These little girls remind me of my own not so little ones. I love the carefree looks, the wind and the peacefulness.

The last few months have been challenging to say the least...we lost our primary source of income, scrambled to try and replace that, lost our secondary source of income, lost insurance, and then of course everyone had to get sick! LOL We are once again employed and everyone has managed to heal from being sick, but I am ready for that peacefulness.

I have wanted to learn how to use Copic markers for awhile now. I am fascinated with their beauty and how much you can do with them. So I have started slowly teaching myself. In the process of learning I have discovered how very relaxing coloring is. It is becoming my go to activity when I need to decompress.

So here is one of my "girls", colored with Copics.

playing catch up...again

It seems like I am always playing catch up on here! LOL! I recently purchased a Silhouette Cameo machine and had to experiment with some layouts. Any excuse to play right? Here are the first few I came up with!

CAS day 1

I got super lucky and won a seat to this amazing card class. I signed up for it last year (after the class had actually ended) and I admit I didn't get very far. I have been busy the last couple days wrapping up some projects around the house but I WILL catch up on all the lessons I have missed!

That being said, here are my cards from the first day of class. Now I can't show the sketch, but you get the idea. I was super excited to use so many products from my stash I had never used before!

Now please keep in mind I am taking this class to LEARN!! Making cards has always been such a struggle for me. I'm pretty pleased with these for the first day!

CAS Thank you

Starting off the New Year with the *hope* to try to blog more. I didn't make it a resolution, but a goal. Last year ended in such a hectic way, its nice to have some time to think and refresh.

Here is a Clean and Simple (CAS) Thank You card I created. It actually is a gift card holder and then a cute little purse to put the gift card in. I LOVE the color grey. I love that it is becoming a more popular color now and the color combinations with it blow me away.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope to be back real soon for some more fun stuff!
